A pleasant surprise
I’m not a huge fan of pizza so was a little dubious when my husband told me he’d been chosen to act as a mystery diner at our local Pizza Express. However I needn’t have worried as they serve a good amount of variants on pizza! I could have chosen from all manner of delicious Italian delicacies; from salads, pasta and more. I opted for the goat’s cheese salad which was really yummy. My husband Brian had a Sloppy Giuseppe and a side order of polenta chips. I’d never heard of polenta, but they looked tasty and Brian said he enjoyed them. I thought that they looked a bit greasy but he said they were nice. Our waiter was a young wee lad who was very attentive and polite. He couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. I have had my opinion changed about Pizza Express and would definitely visit again (I just won’t order the polenta chips!).
Would definitely go again!
Being chosen to be a holiday inspector for Centre Parcs was such a treat- my kids were beside themselves with excitement when I told them we were going there for the weekend! Our nearest Centre Parcs was Warminster (Longleat) so we set off nice and early on the Friday morning and arrived in good time so that the whole weekend wasn't spent in the car. The lodge we stayed in was kind of basic, but clean and functional so we can't complain. The water wasn't that hot in the shower either, but we soon got used to it and it certainly woke you up in the morning! Part of the subtropical paradise (outdoor pool) was being renovated when we were there and so that was a little unfortunate. However we ate out both nights at the on-site restaurants which was nice. We found the prices a little high, but the food was well cooked and it was a nice enjoyable family experience. The staff were helpful and polite and very accommodating to my fussy children's requests! I would most definitely recommend Longleat Centre Parcs for anyone with children as the park is very child-friendly and you can truly unwind and let the worries of the working week leave you. Would highly recommend!
Waste of a weekend!
Uncomfortable beds, a dripping tap, and a window that didn't shut properly. Centre Parcs wasn't exactly my idea of 'luxury', but I guess it was a step up from camping. I wish we had visited in summertime so that we could have made more use of the outdoor activities, but I guess a few of the indoor things to do were fun. My kids loved the pool. We did have a fun time away as a family, but I'm just glad that I didn't have to pay for this weekend away because I would've been dismayed to have paid top whack for a holiday which was a little underwhelming to be honest...?
Not as wow as I thought it was going to be
I obviously didn’t have to pay for this phone having been chosen as a product tester for Previ, but if I had to fork out the £550 price tag for the 16GB iPhone 6 I think that I would baulk slightly. Although the phone is bigger, the screen resolution is quite poor compared to other phones which is annoying for me. The battery is slightly better than previous iPhone models, but still not as good as the battery capacity on my previous Android phone. I guess this is because the iPhone 6 is so much more powerful, but it is still an annoyance. Don’t get me wrong I loved this phone and was as seduced by the shiny design as I was by the powerful operating system, but I think Apple need to lower their prices if they are to take over the world as they seem intent on doing!
Great value for money, great stay! 4 stars!
Centre Parcs is renowned for being a little pricey, but to be honest we didn't think that the prices were too bad, especially if you think what you'd pay abroad. We are an adventurous outdoors-y family and so Centre Parcs was awesome for us. I would say that in terms of tips, it really is rather hilly here so if you are booking hire bikes, you need to book one with gears definitely. The children seats for the bikes only fit on the bikes without gears, so beware of this! Go for a trailer so that you can have gears to tackle those hills. We loved everything about Centre Parcs and will definitely be returning one day in the near future.
Great phone
Really great phone- I love it! Thanks Previ!
Great nail polish for low maintenance woman like myself!
I have a busy outdoors-y life and so nail polish isn't usually top of my agenda. When I do use nail polish, it's often for a special event and I usually find an old bottle in the back of one of my drawers and use that. I can't usually be bothered to do any more than one layer, so this nail varnish was an absolute gift for me because one coat seemed to be amazingly clean and bubble-free from the first application. I now know why people spend out for more highly-rated polishes and I think I will chuck my collection of old sticky polishes in the bin! The shade of silver I was sent was perfect to go with my dress, and I actually found that my nails stayed chip free for just over a week. A WEEK! My nails usually only last chip-free for about 1-2 days before they are ragged and tatty looking. So yes O.P.I, I found your nail lacquer to be easy to apply, long-lasting and a lovely colour. I'm pleased to find a nail polish as low-maintenance as I am!?
Rubbish.
The Dyson Ball Compact Animal performed adequately, and occasionally excellently. There were definitely some flaws however. Some of the design and performance aspects were all the more glaring due to Dyson's claims of perfection. I am of the belief that it is always better to under-promise and over deliver. Dyson does the opposite. I have real concerns about the durability of this machine; for the mainpart these concerns revolve around the ball. Because the roller ball is not a base, the two small wheels and axles support the vacuum in the upright position. These balls are plastic and to me anyway, they don't feel very sturdy – in fact after I tested this by using the machine heavily, one of the support wheels fell off. I managed to refix it without too much trouble, but the fact that it fell off was discouraging. Another bug-bear was that when you put the cleaner back in an upright position you have to really push the handle forward with some force. It doesn't lock into place on its own accord so I found that, even when it made the 'click' sound, the handle fell down. Once has to push it harder still until a second 'click' could be heard. This was frustrating. Performance-wise, the Dyson wasn't awful. It managed to clean up most of the hair which my Weimaraner dog has been shedding like its going out of fashion.
Great food, not great service
My sister and I always go to Nando's as we love the spicy chicken. It was great to be able to review it as a mystery shopper as I gave everything a little more attention that I would normally. The food was good as standard, but I must say that the seating is too close together. I could have practically leaned over and kissed the man next to me if i'd wanted to! It would be good if they spaced it out a little to give couples more room when dining. I also find that my local branch of Nando's seem to have an incapacity to clean cutlery! I always check it and usually find some dried up food between my fork prongs. The staff are always very attentive when I ask for a clean set though, and bring me a clean set without complaint. I think Nando's is a great restaurant chain which seems to be right up there with the best of the high street restaurants- I would highly recommend the service, food and experience (but perhaps mark them down a little on cleanliness if I were to be fussy!). Thanks Previ, I really enjoyed my experience.
Centre Parcs - not bad...
We stayed in a Woodland Lodge in the Cedar area and arrived early in the morning on the Monday so that we were able to take full advantage of the facilities on our first day- we were so excited! We chose to eat at Café Rouge for lunch; there were plenty of tables when we arrived, but it got very busy around 12:30 so I would advise getting there early. Centre Parcs was very secluded and quiet, with plenty of wildlife and only about 15 minutes’ walk from the village centre. The streets have subtle lighting after dark, but we'd advise using a torch when returning from the village after nightfall. The lodge was clean, tidy and well equipped with all of the kitchen amenities that you would need for a self-catering break; including gas oven and hob, microwave, plenty of cutlery, plates, dishes, glasses, pots, pans and cooking utensils. The only thing we needed which was not provided was a baking tray, although we were able to improvise with some kitchen foil. Overall we had a truly wonderful stay. The only one negative was the staff could sometimes be a little abrupt and seem like we were annoying them with the few questions we had- I think that in a customer-facing role like the staff here have, they should learn to be more patient and calm. Other than that I think its fair to say that we all enjoyed our stay and will be back next year.
